Bio

Parvez Elahi Chowdhury (পারভেজ এলাহি চৌধুরী) was born in 1955 in Kurigram, Rangpur.

He received his High School diploma there in 1972 (Batch of ‘71). He completed his M.Sc. in Geography from the University of Dhaka in 1980 (Batch of ‘78). He worked in the Tea Gardens of Sylhet for Duncan Brothers Bangladesh Ltd. through the 1980s.

He moved to Montréal, Canada, where he received a diploma in Industrial Electronics from Collège Vanier in 1993. He later moved to Toronto in the 2000s where he continued to work in both telecommunications and electronics industries. During this time, he would continue cultivating his skills in documenting materials and research pertaining to the 1971 conflict, ethnocide/genocide, and Liberation War of Bangladesh. This was perhaps partly a therapeutic and introspective endeavour, seeking to make sense of the violence and destruction experienced.

Parvez (পারভেজ) is married to Syeda Tahmina Abdal. Parvez and Tahmina continue to live in Toronto with their two sons, Tahbit and Tawsif.
